This piece of electronic equipment orbits the Earth's orbit between 160 and 322 kilometers above the planet, and it is commonly used for communications, internet connectivity, military reconnaissance, and other imaging solutions. By being placed at a shorter distance from Earth allows for lower signal propagation delay, resulting in less latency. Also, it is less costly because it requires less rocket power to put it in place. Due to its limited communication field with the planet and faster rotation than satellites at greater altitudes, LEO satellites can also work in constellations. This means that a group of spaced satellites can operate together in some cases to provide greater coverage.
