Closed-circuit TV (CCTV) combined with machine learning software can convert surveillance tools into proactive mechanisms for multiple public uses, including traffic management and public safety. This CCTV network system employs video-analytics software to analyze data in real-time, as IoT sensors capture urban surroundings' thermal, audio, and video data.

Different from conventional surveillance systems, this solution includes an extensive cloud database that enables analytical algorithms to create imagery patterns. Video analytics can be programmed to identify items, individuals, or sequences, thus offering an opportunity for administrators to search for particular objects in video feeds. If the analytics are programmed to target patterns, they could instantly and autonomously warn police bodies without the supervision of humans.
