A durable, low-cost audio device designed to address illiterate people's learning needs in remote communities where the internet is not available. It offers access to a library of engaging, actionable knowledge in the local dialect, which can be replayed as often as needed.

A durable, low-cost audio device powered with a potent built-in speaker containing audio files such as messages of knowledge, attitudes, and practices on themes of equity, economy, agriculture, cooking, hygiene, leadership, and community building. The talking book gives users access to a library of several hours of actionable content in their local dialect, available to be replayed as often as they want, with no need to be connected to the internet.

The content can be updated periodically through an audio content manager used in a computer or smartphone, which can be brought by a team or taken to the closest point with an internet connection. Content is expected to change seasonally with local needs, such as specific crop practices or school enrollment programs. Local partners can also produce relevant content based on local cultural knowledge and then add this content to the talking book tool.

The tool includes a microphone that allows users to record feedback and questions for content improvement, which is collected along with other usage statistics for assessment. Performance analytics and user feedback enable the representatives from the program to make informed decisions while gaining a deeper understanding of communities' issues. All the built-in buttons have intuitive icons, which are also developed by the representative from the program. Current models use standard batteries to work, but future designs might include rechargeable batteries.
