A tool that harvests drinking water from the air, regardless of humidity levels. Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs) are the compounds that guarantee this technology's success: it generates a sponge-like configuration with large internal surface areas. By fine-tuning the exact chemical composition of the MOF, these surfaces can be made hydrophilic or water-attracting.

This water-harvesting tool is entirely passive, relying only on the high water uptake capacity, low-grade heat requirement for desorption, and ambient temperatures to condense and collect the water and solar power. Tests have already shown it operates under extreme conditions, like a 20% humidity ratio, and still provides enough water to match the basic human needs: one kilogram of material can provide three quarts of water per day.
